The activity bonus helps low-income workers and its amount depends on income and the composition of the household. Increases exist for disabled workers or those receiving other social assistance.
The activity bonus is social assistance paid each month to supplement the income of low-income workers. Its objective is to encourage professional activity by supporting those who receive low income while being employed.
This assistance depends on several criteria, including resources and the composition of the household, as well as income ceilings which vary depending on the profiles of the beneficiaries.
In 2024, a single person can receive the bonus if their income does not exceed approximately €1,500 net per month. For a couple without children, the combined income ceiling reaches €2,300 net per month. This amount concerns the couple's entire income, whether there is one or two salaries.
Homes with children
For a single person with a child, the ceiling rises to €2,400 net per month. A couple with a child can claim the bonus as long as their combined income does not exceed €2,800 net. These adjustments take into account the additional burdens linked to parenthood, thus making it possible to offer more adapted support to families.
Additional support for disabled workers
Disabled workers or those receiving other social benefits can receive an increased activity bonus. These situations may result in specific needs, and assistance is therefore adjusted to take these realities into account.
To request the activity bonus, households must go to the website of the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) or the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA). The application is made online, and once approved, the premium is paid each month. It is essential to apply as soon as possible, as the bonus is not retroactive, meaning that months that go by without a request will not be compensated.
