Electric energy production, at the national level, increased by 3% at the end of April 2024, after a drop of 1.9% a year earlier, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

This progression is explained by the good performance of private production (+4.2%) and that of renewable energies relating to law 13-09 (+38.6%), specifies the DEPF in its recent economic report. . On the other hand, the production of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) fell by 9.9%, notes the same source.

Regarding trade in the electrical energy sector with the outside world, the imported volume increased by 15.1% at the end of the first four months of 2024, instead of an increase of 119.6% in the same period of the past year.

As for the volume exported, it increased by 17.9%, in a context of an increase in the volume of net energy of 3% (after +3.4%).

Regarding the consumption of electrical energy, it increased by 0.7% at the end of April 2024, after an improvement of 6% the previous year, incorporating an increase in sales of medium voltage energy of 10 %, that intended for distributors of 3% and that of low voltage of 1.9%.
