Tobias S., former leader of the far-right Party of Swiss Nationalists (Pnos), will have to spend six months in prison. This was decided by the Basel courts on Thursday. The man was on trial for having made anti-Semitic remarks on numerous occasions, between 2020 and 2022, on social networks and via messages. He notably published a video entitled “scaring the Jews again”, in which he explicitly called for genocide, reports the “Basler Zeitung”.

Not enough to convince the president of the court. “Your beliefs are dangerous and hateful,” she declared, when announcing her verdict. An announcement repeatedly interrupted by the defendant, who accused the judge of lying.
Ultimately, the forty-year-old, already convicted several times for racist comments and acts, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, six of which were closed. He will also have to pay a fine of 2,500 francs and procedural costs of 20,000 francs. The defendant, however, indicated that he planned to appeal.
