A group of relatives of victims of the deadly terrorist attack committed at the end of August in Barsalogho, Burkina Faso, denounced the “contempt” of the head of the junta, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and pointed out his “responsibility”. More than 400 people died, according to the group, during this massacre perpetrated on August 24 and claimed by the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims, linked to Al-Qaeda.

In Burkina, anger is not abating among the relatives of the victims of the Barsalogho massacre. Gathered together, some of them denounced the “contempt” of the junta leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and pointed out his “responsibility”.

The attack, carried out on August 24, is the bloodiest that Burkina Faso, which has been facing jihadist violence for nearly ten years, has known in its history.

No official figures have been released, but the Collectif Justice pour Barsalogho (CJB), made up of relatives of victims, has reported more than 400 deaths.

“For us, the president is and will remain primarily responsible for the death of more than 400 of our relatives. If they were killed, it was his fault,” said the CJB, whose members wish to remain anonymous for security reasons, in a statement sent to AFP on Friday.

Twenty days after the tragedy, she called “not to forget the victims of Barsalogho”, describing the attack as a “serious attack on human dignity”.
