DECRYPTION – The Prime Minister wants to exempt from transfer taxes all purchases of housing worth less than 250,000 euros for “young people from the middle and working classes”. An effective solution to revive the real estate market?

“Without my parents, we would not have been able to buy our apartment,” confide the rare households who managed to access property for the first time. Family support, through donations or loans, has never been so essential. If you are not so lucky, know that your employer can help you by taking charge of part of your property loan. With savings that can reach, in total, 20,000 euros for loans with a maximum duration of 20 years. On the tax side, another idea emerged from the campaign for the legislative elections: exemption from transfer taxes, already proposed at the end of December by the Court of Auditors.

This proposal, which recalls that of Éric Zemmour during the 2022 presidential election, this time comes from Gabriel Attal who wants to eliminate “notary fees” for purchases of housing under 250,000 euros in favor of “young people from middle and working classes“. This announcement, which comes a few days after the “mea culpa” of Emmanuel Macron who admitted not having “fairly advanced on access to housing for young people», surprised real estate professionals. “The government had never spoken to us about it before.deplores Loïc Cantin, president of the National Real Estate Federation who denounces “amateurism” of the government. The notaries are also angry. In the midst of the blues since the start of the real estate crisis, they are worried about their emoluments.
