What happened in the Lens and Béthune region? Several complaints have just been filed by individuals who suffered from the same scam. They thought they had bought a car through a garage, but it was fictitious.
It's a scam he didn't see coming. When Matthieu Leriquier goes to a garage to collect the vehicle he has just purchased, he finds the doors closed. Behind the locked gates, no more signs of life, a ghost garage. He never saw the color of the utility vehicle, although he was able to test drive it in the same garage before purchasing. A purchase made with complete confidence: “It was a garage that was wide open with lots of vehicles. I saw he was selling quite a few vehicles and I thought it could be a good business. So we made the first payment of 10% and Afterwards, we did the rest.”he explains.
Like him, others have fallen into the trap with always the same operating procedure: advertisements published online with the possibility of coming to see the vehicles at the garage. On social networks, other testimonies from victims have been pouring in since September.
