Scania launches company specializing in charging solutions

It’s Scania’s turn to launch its own company specializing in charging solutions: Erinion. Objective: 40,000 new charging points at customers’ premises and a strengthening of the Scania group’s offering in terms of e-Mobility in the future transport ecosystem.

The new company, Erinion, is being created by Scania to provide charging solutions at the depot or at the destination, with the aim of accelerating the adoption and diffusion of electric trucks, in line with its objective of driving the shift to a system of sustainable transport: 50% of its annual volume of vehicles electric by 2030.

Charging at the depot or destination also helps optimize power levels and charging schedules, while improving battery life and overall vehicle efficiency. Additionally, because charging at depots often takes place during off-peak hours, electricity rates are lower and better controlled, while charging at destinations can be done opportunistically during waiting times, work or driver’s rest period.

According to Scania, customers can expect a reduction in investment requirements of up to 50% and operational savings of up to 15,000 euros per truck each year.

Initially, the new company will establish its market presence in Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Germany. A global rollout will follow in due course.
