It was two years ago: the American consumer association Consumer Reports revealed in a report covering several brands that two flagship products from the Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate group, sold in the Excellence range, contained toxic heavy metals, above the standards set by the State of California. Thus the Excellence 85% dark chocolate bars had too high a lead content and the Excellence 70% bars had too high a cadmium content.

According to the authors of this report, “the consumption of a single ounce [l’équivalent de 30 grammes environ, ndlr] per day would put an adult above a level that public health authorities and Consumer Reports experts consider harmful to health.
