Justin Trudeau admitted he considered leaving his post last year amid personal difficulties in his marriage, but quickly realized “there was still so much to do.”

The Prime Minister participated in an interview with American psychologist Adam Grant, who hosts the podcast ReThinking.

Asked about the number of times he thought about resigning, Justin Trudeau said that was “not at all” the case at the moment, but that he had already considered it.

“There was a time last year, when I was facing some difficult times in my marriage, where I really wondered if there was a way out,” he said. admitted.

“And I realized that it was not me, that there was still so much to do and that the stakes for democracy had never been so high,” the Prime Minister underlined.

According to him, making this decision would have gone against who he is. “I couldn’t be the person I am, the fighter I am, and say ‘yeah no, I’m giving up on this fight. I can’t do that,’” he said.

The politician also opened up about how he reacts to criticism as his lack of popularity continues to increase.

“No matter how much they hate me, I always have to try to think about what I can do to make sure that [les Canadiens]their children or their community are better off,” he ruled.
