From 2026, CFF and Trenitalia will offer direct trains from Zurich to Florence and Livorno, and vice versa. The two railway companies also presented a new Eurocity train which will run between the two countries.
In addition, an additional connection will be introduced from 2026 between Zurich, Milan and Venice, it is indicated in a CFF press release.
The two companies extended their collaboration for several years on Friday by signing a cooperation agreement at Milan station.
The partnership between Trenitalia and the SBB began in 2009 and is a success, say the SBB in a press release. The two railway companies have already transported 30 million passengers between Italy and Switzerland.
