The Perpignan hypermarket is the one which has recorded the biggest cut in its employees, it will lose 14 positions.
The day after Auchan Retail’s official announcement of a big cut in its workforce nationally, no fewer than 2,389 positions, we know a little more about the consequences for hypermarkets based in the Languedoc Roussillon region.
Thus, the Perpignan hypermarket will ultimately lose 14 positions. That of Auchan Pérols, near Montpellier, will lose 8. That of Béziers will have to part ways with 9 employees, while that of Sète will see its workforce reduced by 8 people. “The one in Nîmes is not affected as it is a former Casino store”, confides a regional union official.
Reduction in the supply of non-food products
However, the plan announced by the management of Auchan Retail targets not only hypermarkets, but also supermarkets. We should therefore expect new announcements targeting them.
The biggest job cuts in the region affect the positions of equipment sales sales advisors, particularly salespeople of household appliances. The positions of those responsible for planning and managing the payroll are also affected. And, finally, the positions of non-food retail managers, with Auchan planning a reduction in spaces (including the offer) dedicated to non-food products.
