Despite competition from Waze, Coyote does not admit defeat. In addition to its recently updated application, the French brand is even launching a new case, called Coyote Max. Discover its price and all the new features it brings.
While Coyote will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2025, the French company is no longer as talked about as when it started. Its paid application, which notably reports speed cameras, faced stiff competition from Waze, and its boxes are not necessarily aimed at the general public. But the brand maintains a loyal community and does not give up offering new products. Quite the contrary: today it is unveiling a brand new device, called Coyote Max. Billed at €299 in France and Belgium, it requires an additional €50 compared to the Coyote Up and even €120 compared to the Coyote Mini which is entry-level. In return, it features a new 4-inch touch screen, with a finer resolution than before and IPS technology, a processor 4 times more powerful and even more RAM. Its use therefore promises to be smoother and faster. It also receives a 4G chip, like on the Coyote Up, a ceramic antenna, compatible with athermal windshields, and a multi-constellation GPS signal which promises “ultra precise localization” according to the manufacturer.
Alerts with a redesigned design
Hardware is not the only thing to progress. In addition to revising its exterior appearance to give a “premium appearance”, the Coyote Max benefits from a new design for its various alerts. The various types of controls (fixed, section, mobile-mobile, etc.) are now the only ones to adopt a triangular shape. Note that this now includes radars intended to monitor reserved lanes, which are likely to flourish in large cities in the coming years. Degraded weather conditions, stopped vehicles, dangerous turns and other objects on the road are indicated by a square, with a color that intensifies depending on the dangerousness. The speed limit and actual speed display have also been reworked. As for the sound, it has not been forgotten. The Coyote Max indeed uses the new alerts that are more pleasant to the ear which have been used by the application since June 2024. But while the latter is accessible from €9.99 per month without commitment, the box will ask you for a subscription of €14.99 per month to add to the €299 of the device itself. It is therefore really not intended for the greatest number of people…
On the track as well as virtually thanks to simracing, automobiles are a passion that I often experience intensely. What could be better, then, than being able to share it through journalism, by addressing all the facets of this formidable invention and seeking to be of service to the reader at the same time?
