News of October 25, 2024: A cyberattack brings down the unique login for access to several Swiss newspapers
Since Thursday, October 24, 2024, the Onelog unique identification platform is no longer working. A cyberattack is believed to be the cause of the outage, according to information from Tamedia on the Watson site. The company is said to be working hard to resolve the outage.
We don’t yet know what actually happened. All user data would have been deleted, according to the blog Inside Paradeplatz which says it is based on internal communication. According to the same source, Onelog has not yet been contacted by the cybercriminals responsible.
Onelog was launched in 2021 by an alliance bringing together CH Media, NZZ, Ringier, TX Groupe and SSR, to allow Internet users to connect via the same login to affiliated media sites. The platform also allows publishers to learn more about their users to offer them personalized advertisements. It is certified by the Digital Trust Label.
With the platform outage, users can no longer register to post comments. Paying customers are also affected, as they can no longer view their e-paper without logging in. In response to the incident, Tamedia and other portals linked to Onelog temporarily made the contents of their titles freely accessible and also opened access to E-Paper editions, as Watson reports.
