The SQ confirms having received a report of a needle in a candy in the Danville and Val-des-Sources sectors, in Estrie.

A mother’s publication on social networks sparked a lot of reactions in the last hours in Estrie after the latter published a photo where we could see a Kit-Kat chocolate with a needle.

The SQ communications department confirms that the police have taken charge of the case and that an investigation will be opened.

For the moment, the police force was not able to say whether this is an isolated case in the region. “It’s an event. There was a [publication] and the people involved contacted us.”

No one was injured, according to the SQ.

A similar situation would have occurred in Sherbrooke. The lieutenant on duty late Saturday afternoon confirms that the police force received a complaint about a needle in a Kit-Kat in the Chemin des Pèlerins area in Sherbrooke.

The file will be transferred to the investigations division, he mentions.

Both police forces are asking parents to be vigilant when it comes to monitoring Halloween candy.

The public is also invited to contact the police if needles or other dangerous objects are found in candy.
