Since 2008, public investment Noshaq (formerly Meusinvest) has been engaged in a dynamic of urban redeployment centered on the renewal of the Grand Léopold district through the desire to create a “Creative District”. And this concretely involved the renovation and construction of buildings such as La Grand Poste, the Relais Grand Poste, the Fiacre (Baar-Lecharlier hotel), the Îlot Madeleine, as well as the ensemble formed by the buildings Lombard 1, Chapelle-des-Clercs and the Hôtel de Copis.

Yesterday, the group announced that it would sell all of these properties or rent them out, in line with its strategic real estate vision of economic attractiveness.

Is it as a result of difficulties in renting and making profitable the spaces, given the heavy investments made? “This heritage has recently made it possible to attract key players in the heart of the city, as evidenced by the recent installation of Orange, Imec, La Niche, Industrya, TwoDesigners, Venture Lab, Deloitte, Forem, Eklo , ULiège, Altiplan, Ewattch, Bloomlife, Kargo studio, RTC, GRE, the King Baudouin Foundation, and Voxdale“, we advance at Noshaq to show the opposite.

By making the decision to market the buildings that we have carried out so far, we are sending a clear message: more than an end in themselves, our real estate projects are milestones that allow us to move forward in our vision of the future. for the center of Liège and beyond. The rental or sale of these emblematic buildings should make it possible to attract new forces to our side, while freeing up new means to amplify the dynamics at work today. », Adds Gaëtan Servais, CEO of Noshaq.

In any case, this announcement surprised many people. And in particular the managers of real estate resources as well as the professors of the University of Liège, which occupies part of the Grand Poste building with its Média Campus. Its journalism section has offices, classrooms and multimedia rooms there with studios or editing benches… With a lease signed for around thirty years. “A meeting must nevertheless take place next week where we will perhaps know more about the modalities,” indicates the ULiège communications service. “It’s still surprising not to have been warned“, other administrative staff report to it.

In his press release, Noshaq does not mention the future of the Grand Poste Food Market and its bar connected to the craft brewery.
