The Stellantis group is preparing a new SUV based on the STLA Large platform: it will appear in 2026 in the Chrysler range.

Ce new Chrysler SUV should be equipped, unsurprisingly, with an electric motor.

A new SUV is being prepared at Stellantis

Stellantis is preparing an important novelty in its range: the European manufacturer, born from the alliance between the PSA and FCA groups, and which brings together 14 automobile brands, is preparing to launch a new vehicle in the fold of an American brand which, in recent years, has not exactly had an easy time.
This crisis has been going on since the early 2000s, even before the firm was absorbed into the Stellantis portfolio: in recent times, Chrysler had also been the subject of certain rumors and speculations, which announced that it would be resold to the highest bidder, and this imminently.
Carlos Tavares and his team recently denied this hypothesis, and Chrysler should therefore continue to be part of Stellantis’ brands, at least until the end of this decade. As a concrete response to these rumors denied by the company, the American manufacturer should very soon launch a brand new 100% electric SUV.

The production version of the Chrysler Airflow concept?

Unlike other American brands, Chrysler has never focused much on SUVs: in fact, the brand’s last vehicles were the Chrysler 300 C sedan, as well as the Pacifica family minivan. But from 2026, things will radically change thanks to the strength of the Stellantis group.
Indeed, Chrysler will soon benefit from the Stellantis STLA platformon which other models of the group are also based, such as Alfa Romeo. The American company will launch a brand new SUV on this architecture within two years: according to the specifications of the STLA Large platform, it will have a length of between four and a half and five meters, will have three rows of seats, and will be powered by an 800 V electric motor, powered by a battery with an energy capacity of between 85 and 118 kWh, to offer a range of around 800 km.
And even if information about it is still confidential, the first rumors about this future Chrysler SUV indicate that it could also be rebadged at Dodgein order to replace the Durango. Both models will be produced in Winsdor, Ontario, Canadain Stellantis facilities specializing in the manufacturing of SUVs.

At CES in Las Vegas in 2022, Chrysler unveiled its concept Airflowwhich announced the future arrival of its first 100% electric SUV: the production model could therefore very probably adopt the same name.
