“In fact, what we want is to maximize the traffic of our service centers and also maximize the use of our on-site resources. And all this with the aim of maintaining jobs in the region,” explains Geneviève Côté, spokesperson for the SAAQ, in an interview with LCN.

This is a second phase of a pilot project which took place in winter 2024 in five centers.

As part of this reduction in hours, service points will be closed one day per week.

During these closing days, employees will still be on duty, but will perform other tasks.

“For the 20 service centers concerned, […] the employees will remain on the job, says the spokesperson. They will lend a hand throughout the network to answer calls, respond to emails as well and be able to reduce traffic in other places in Quebec where traffic is a little higher.”

The SAAQ also invites citizens to make an appointment before going to a service point.

Here are the new centers which will see their opening hours reduced for the low season:

NORTH SHORE

The Baie-Comeau service center, located on Boulevard Laflèche, will be closed on Tuesdays from November 4, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

In Sept-Îles, the service center on avenue Arnaud will be closed on Wednesdays for the same period.

SAGUENAY-LAC-SAINT-JEAN

The Alma center located on Saint-Luc Boulevard West will be closed on Wednesdays from December 2, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

During the same period, the one in Roberval, located on Boulevard Marcotte, will be closed on Tuesdays.

MAURICIE

From December 2, 2024 to March 21, 2025, the Shawinigan service center on Boulevard des Hêtres will be closed on Mondays.

LOWER SAINT-LAURENT

Three service centers will see their hours reduced in Bas-Saint-Laurent.

The one in Matane, which is located on avenue du Phare Est, will be closed on Wednesdays from November 4, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

During this same period, the Rivière-du-Loup service point, located on rue Roland-Roussel, will be closed on Fridays.

On the Rimouski side, customers will not be able to come to the service center on avenue Léonidas Sud on Wednesdays from December 2, 2024 to March 21, 2025.
