▶▶▶ WHAT IF THIS CRISIS WAS EVEN MORE SERIOUS THAN EXPECTED?
Already, a first good point : the daycare enthusiasts who claimed, before the summer, that everything was going to start talking again at the start of the autumn school year, have been at their expense and we no longer hear them – it’s gratifying! Upon returning from the summer holidays, for example during the Geneva Watch Days, the friends of these daycare enthusiasts admitted a slight slump, but which according to them was only a normalization: the 17% drop in exports in September showered them, knowing that they had cooled everyone down by their declarations of partial unemployment for their teams. Stupidity being contagious, here is a new wave of naïve people delighted with the crèche – each more expert in luxury than the other – guaranteeing us the beginnings of a recovery for the first quarter of 2025, at least for the trade shows next spring: you just have to believe in them, their promises only binding the flycatchers who believe in them and the few simpletons who are their shareholders. We wonder why such a recovery would take shape and on what basis? The examination of the situation is quite pathetic (…) – (Business Watches from October 23)
▶▶▶ ELECTORAL PSYCHODRAM…
In two weeks, the United States of America will have sent a new tenant to the White House: we can have divergent opinions [parfois aussi convergents] on the personality of the two candidates in the running, it is obvious that the general interests of the watchmaking community will be directly and seriously affected by the choice of American voters. 98% of French-speaking, European and more generally Western media having chosen their camp, that is to say that of the interests represented by the Democratic candidate (Kamala Harris), the military-industrial complex and the American deep state, roughly the “camp of good”, the cause may seem understood within the elites, but it is perhaps not understood on the ground: the same phenomenon of polarization had already occurred around Hilary Clinton in 2016, but it had been beaten by Donald Trump, to the great dismay of the watchmaking community, which was nothing but grimaces, heartbroken remarks and tragic despair on the morning of this election. So, we can consider that the game remains open…! (Business Watches from October 23)
