After her master’s degree in project management at the University of Kigali in 2016, she set up her online commerce platform, positioning herself as one of the pioneers of the sector in her country, Rwanda.

Murakali is an e-commerce solution developed by a Rwandan start-up. It allows users to make purchases on its web and mobile platforms. The start-up, based in Kigali, was founded in 2015 by Yvette Uwimpaye.

The mobile application is available on iOS and Android where it has been downloaded more than a thousand times. The user will be able to create an account with their personal information and access the services of the young company. Among other things, he can buy various products online such as household items, groceries and general supplies, baby items, etc.

This is the solution “for moms who are busy balancing work and life, for singles who need fast delivery, for new residents who are unfamiliar with prices and markets, for diasporas who want to run errands for their families in Rwanda, and for organizations that need office consumables and office stationery.”

Murakali offers the best prices to customers because, in addition to the start-up itself, other retail brands have the opportunity to open their stores on the platform. From there, several specialist boutiques have stores on Murakali, which also contributes to the multiplicity of items on the e-commerce platform.

The start-up has a delivery service and has partnered with the American company DHL to deliver outside Rwanda. While awaiting expansion into other countries on the continent, Murakali already has clients outside Rwanda (Uganda, Kenya) and even outside the continent (United States, Switzerland).
