In Luxembourg: The LuxTrust Token is almost over

In more than 15 years, it had become a familiar object, used by almost everyone in the country to validate their online transactions or digital identity. Introduced in 2008, the Token will disappear at the end of this year, LuxTrust confirmed in a press release sent this Tuesday. “Essential tool”, according to the press release, it must now give way to “technological developments and security requirements”.

To “meet growing security requirements and facilitate access to online banking services”, LuxTrust will now place the LuxTrust Mobile application “as the main device associated with the electronic certificate”. Clearly, to validate your online transactions, you will be directed to the LuxTrust Mobile application, which will ask you for your code.

A small revolution already in progress. In fact, as of April 30, 80% of LuxTrust users have already taken the step towards the free application, according to the press release. Presented as a “digital equivalent of the Token”, LuxTrust Mobile “offers an even higher level of security”, by allowing a new verification of the transaction in progress before its validation. LuxTrust also presents its application as more practical, since it is used directly on the smartphone, without having your Token on hand or risking losing it.

Those who do not yet have the LuxTrust Mobile application will therefore have to activate it by December 31, the date from which the Token will no longer be accepted to authenticate or confirm transactions. Until then, the Token must be associated with the application, both for individuals and professionals. If you have any questions about the procedure, you can contact LuxTrust at (+352) 24 550 550 or at [email protected].
