The meal delivery platform wanted to remind its users not to forget their mother this Sunday, May 26. But the notification was considered very clumsy, especially for those who lost their mother.

Like Alissone, many of them have denounced, on social networks, the message received this Sunday, May 26 from a home meal delivery platform. Deliveroo actually sent a notification to their subscribers’ smartphones with the following text: “Missed call from mom”, then “False alarm, this is an exercise! Take advantage of this simulation to wish your mom a happy birthday”.

The intention was laudable… but the form shocked many people as the reactions below show.

The company’s apology

Contacted by Tech & Co, Deliveroo apologized: “We regret sending this notification, it was a mistake on our part and we apologize to anyone who may have been hurt by this message.”reacted the company.

This is not the first time that Deliveroo’s communication has caused a “bad buzz”. In 2021, the brand sent an email to certain customers announcing that an order from them for 38 pizzas had been recorded for a total amount of more than €450. There too, there was an uproar.
