The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) intends to modify the peak/off-peak hours regime allowing the French to save energy from next summer, thanks to solar electricity.
Paying less for your bill involves changing your habits. Many of them start their washing machines, dryers or water heaters in the evening, taking advantage of off-peak hours and the destocking of nuclear energy, in order to avoid an exorbitant electricity bill.
But the situation will change. From summer 2025, the CRE will offer new off-peak hours during the day. The change will be possible thanks to the destocking of photovoltaic solar electricity.
In the long term, this will make it possible to have more off-peak hours and to adapt to households who will initially be able to “benefit from very low prices for solar electricity in summer”, explains Emmanuelle Wargon, President of the CRE. These possible modifications will be decided at the end of the consultation which should last until November 22.
