It is at the next 24 Hours of Nürburgring that Volkswagen will unveil its new iteration of its Golf GTI Clubsport. It already shows itself in photos!

Certainly, while car shows tend to lack participants, Could car racing be the new fashionable place to present new products? Judging by the 24 Hours of Nürburgring which will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2024, that indeed seems to be the case. For sports cars anyway! A few days after Mini’s announcement on the presentation of its new Mini John Cooper Works during the event, it is up to Volkswagen to make its announcement. That of the presentation of its most powerful front-wheel drive Golf ever produced!

A logo that shines

We are of course talking about the new Golf GTI Clubsport which is about to benefit from the recent restyling of the compact sedan to also sport a slightly different look. If the first photos show us it is still well camouflaged, the Wolfsburg firm announces a “completely redesigned” front end, distinguishing it even more from the rest of the range. In particular with redesigned LED Plus headlights or, for the first time, the illuminated Volkswagen logo at the front! Other new features include new 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels, and even new 19-inch Warmenau forged wheels as an option., which weigh only 8 kilos each, drastically reducing the unsprung masses. Inside, there is already talk of a new multifunction leather sports steering wheel, a new infotainment system and a new voice assistant with ChatGPT AI integration.

More than 300 horses?

Last word on the mechanics, even if Volkswagen, at this stage, is not yet very talkative. The German manufacturer nevertheless tells us about its new Golf GTI Clubsport as having an electronically controlled front differential lock. While DCC adaptive chassis tuning will be available as an option. Moreover, a special driving mode, exclusive to the GTI Clubsport, is also planned, with settings presented as optimal for tackling the Nürburgring. Hence the presentation there. In terms of power, the 300 horsepower developed by the current 1984 cc in-line 4-cylinder should be exceeded. Response on May 31 at 4:30 p.m.!
