This weekend, “retrocamping” enthusiasts gathered in the Dordogne. The discipline allows you to combine camping holidays and collecting old objects. One of our teams went to Saint-Astier to meet these enthusiasts.

It’s a return to the past as fun as it is colorful. And sometimes, it’s in the details that all the difference is made. Many people make “backcamping” a real passion. And the 70s are clearly their Source of inspiration.

From the car that tows the caravan, to the saucepan, including the tablecloth and the egg carton, everything is there! Here, the Formica table covered with a slightly outdated tablecloth is obviously making a comeback.

In this Perigord campsite, it is their childhood that some people relive. Many know each other. The others take advantage of the opportunity to meet people. Everyone goes on their little visit to their neighbor’s house. In Saint-Astier, the campsite is almost like an open-air museum. With modest caravans like a Sologne from 1951… or downright flashy with an American air stream from 1969.
