In its integrated annual report, PMI highlights PMI’s social and environmental programs, as well as its responsible marketing practices and ongoing commitment to reducing waste.

Philip Morris continues its efforts to decarbonize its entire value chain. 18 PMI factories operating in 11 markets are now carbon neutral. The company is also committed to the preservation of nature and biodiversity. It appears that 94% of the tobacco used does not present a risk of deforestation or conversion of natural ecosystems. Similarly, 8.14 million cubic meters of water have been optimized in tobacco growing areas. These indicators were indeed relayed in the company’s 5th integrated annual report.
A publication that highlights the social and environmental programs supported by PMI, as well as its responsible marketing practices and its ongoing commitment to reducing waste. The performance achieved by PMI in 2023 in terms of sustainability has been recognized by various ESG rating bodies and environmental organizations such as the Carbon Detection Project (CDP) and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. “The results obtained demonstrate our resilience, our values ​​and the exceptional talent of our employees. We are continuing our journey towards continuous innovation and responsible sustainability,” notes Tayla Süer, general director of PMI in the Maghreb. And added: “This report confirms PMI’s continued commitment to promoting our vision of a smoke-free future.” Note that this 5th annual integrated report from PMI highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to achieve the objectives set as part of its 2025 action plan. It also emphasizes the impact of products as well as on the development of smoke-free alternatives within its various international markets. Globally, approximately 33 million adults use PMI’s smoke-free products. 28.6 million of these users opted for IQOS.
Referring to PMI, these products generated 36.4% of overall net revenues in 2023. They were, moreover, available in 84 markets, in particular with the implementation of access prevention programs for young people. It should be remembered that cumulative investment in smoke-free products has reached $12.5 billion since 2008.
In terms of operational impact, PMI indicates in its report that 41.8% of management positions are currently occupied by women compared to 40.7% in 2022. PMI has also carried out 8 impact assessments on human rights since 2018 in high-risk countries. The company has also managed to keep the prevalence of child labor among contract farmers at 0.1%.
