Migros has agreed with the social partners on a new social plan, in view of the announced job cuts. This came into force on May 1.

“This is the first uniform social plan from Migros. It provides all employees concerned with a clear improvement compared to the social plans in force until now in the various Migros cooperatives and companies,” assures the federation of cooperatives in a press release published Wednesday.

The key points of the agreement are the possibility of transferring long-term employees and those over 50 years of age, extensive assistance with continuing training as well as the amortization of mobility costs caused by a change of position, specifies Migros .

1500 jobs lost

Migros indicates that it is “assuming its social responsibility as an employer” with a view to sales of some of its companies. The social partners are the National Commission of the Migros Group (LAKO), the Swiss Society of Commercial Employees and the Swiss Association of Butchery Personnel.

At the beginning of February, Migros announced the sale of several of its subsidiaries. As part of a reorientation, around 1,500 jobs are expected to be eliminated.
