This was revealed by Robert Beaudry, responsible for homelessness at the executive committee of the City of Montreal, on Tuesday during the municipal council meeting.

“This is a completely inexcusable and despicable event,” commented Mr. Beaudry. “Nothing justifies such a gesture. »

It was impossible to know whether the SPVM agents had indeed met the merchant in question.

Robert Beaudry made these statements while responding to opposition advisor Benoit Langevin, who also deplored this “shocking” and “violent” altercation.

“We have reached a point of no return in terms of social cohabitation. The situation has become so tense between residents, merchants and people experiencing homelessness that some have resorted to this type of intolerable and inexcusable action,” denounced Mr. Langevin, who stressed that the police do not did not seem to have intervened when the merchants reported the presence of this individual in front of their door.

“If we do nothing, this violence against the most vulnerable risks becoming more and more frequent. Behind every person experiencing homelessness, there is a human who has the right to safety and dignity,” he added.
