Most of last month’s negative development was attributable to stocks.

During the month under review, the pension fund index decreased by 2.14 points, or -1.03%; its evolution since the start of the year therefore amounts to 3.13%. As of April 30, 2024, the index stands at 205.13 points on a base of 100 points at the beginning of 2000.

Most of the negative development in April was attributable to equities (-0.71%), with a negative contribution of -0.38% for foreign equities and -0.33% for Swiss equities. In addition, the monthly result reflects negative contributions from CHF bonds (-0.20%), cash (-0.07%) and real estate (-0.06%). Only alternative investments (+0.04%) improve the monthly result. Other asset classes have remained rather discreet.

The LPP minimum interest rate index (since January 1, 2024 at 1.25% pa) increased by 0.17 points (i.e. 0.10%) during the month under review, to 162.13 points, on a basis of 100 points at the start of 2000. In April, the performance of the Credit Suisse index of Swiss pension funds was therefore -1.14% lower than the BVG target.

The Credit Suisse index of Swiss pension funds (since January 1, 2000) shows an annualized return of 2.99% at the end of April, while the annualized minimum LPP remuneration stands at 2.01%.
