Automobile: German equipment manufacturer Benteler will open a factory in Kénitra

German equipment manufacturer Benteler plans to open a factory in Kenitra, reports the Spanish press. The factory will supply parts for a new industrial project developed by the manufacturer Stellantis in Vigo, Spain.

Benteler, specialized in the manufacture of chassis and structures, has been selected by Stellantis to supply parts for the new electric vehicle platform at the Balaídos factory.

This collaboration is part of the strategy of bringing Stellantis suppliers closer to its Moroccan platform.

The Vigo and Mos factories of the German multinational will see their workload reduced, part of their activities will in fact be transferred to the future Moroccan factory.

As a reminder, Stellantis, which launched its production at the Kénitra factory in 2019, plans a major expansion with an investment of more than 300 million euros. This initiative aims to double the factory’s production capacity to 400,000 vehicles per year, and to launch the “smart car” platform.
