Volvo launched the first examples of its EX30 in December 2023. The electric car quickly made a place for itself on the market, and began to directly influence the brand’s performance at the end of spring, becoming the fourth best-selling model from the Swedish manufacturer. In ten months, until September 30, 100,000 copies left the factories.

Produced and assembled in China, on the same lines as the Smart #1 and the Zeekr has a plan B for relocation to factories in Ghent, Belgium.

Nothing has yet been decided, as Europe has not yet voted for the implementation of these new customs fees. In the meantime, Volvo is focusing on the launch of its EX30 in the United States next year, where the local media regularly talk about it with great interest, in view of its popularity in Europe and its price attractiveness.

Up to 11,000 EX30s sold per month

The month of September is not the most impressive in terms of sales that said. Volvo has sold 9,610 units of the EX30 over the last 30 days, where it set a new record last May: 11,000 copies. However, these are honorable figures, while a model equipped with thermal and hybrid versions, like the XC60, sold 18,096 units in September.

Last August, only the Tesla Model Y surpassed the Swede’s performance. The American manufacturer thus recorded 13,410 sales of its SUV, high figures, but down further compared to the previous year (-38%). Model 3 sales also fell, by 53%, to 5,557 units. Finally, in fourth position, we found the Skoda Enyaq, with 5,445 cars sold.

The future of Volvo will not be so simple, however, as the brand arrives with an EX90 with a fairly late release, since the seven-seater family SUV had started to make headlines two years ago. For its part, the XC90 has just undergone a restyling, which in no way changes its aging engines. The continuation will be on the presentation of an electric sedan, the ES90, which will replace the S90 withdrawn from the French market in 2020, for lack of success there.
