The Jura Hospital has its new general director. The institution indicated in a press release on Thursday that Gautier Vallat, the current interim director of the institution, was appointed by the board of directors to replace Thierry Charmillot. The new manager will officially take office on June 1. “Gautier Vallat has assumed interim general management since November 23, 2023 with competence, foresight and dynamism,” indicates the H-JU. Originally from Ajoulot, married and father of three children, Gautier Vallat is 36 years old and lives in Delémont. He graduated from the Faculty of Higher Commercial Studies at the University of Lausanne. Gautier Vallat joined the Jura Hospital in 2022 to take over the position of financial director.

A complicated, but serene period

The new manager will take office after a complicated period at the head of the establishment. The former general director, Thierry Charmillot, has been on sick leave since November. However, serenity has always been present, according to Gautier Vallat. “We have assured this since the establishment of the ad interim management,” he underlined Thursday in the 12:15 p.m. Journal. The new general director says he was motivated by the “very interesting” projects carried out by the H-JU, in particular the completion of the construction of the Résidence des Franches-Montagnes in Saignelégier, the opening of the Mediqo general medicine center in Delémont or in the longer term the new hospital in the Jura capital.

Challenges to overcome

At 36, Gautier Vallat will be a young director. His age, however, is not a problem, according to him. “The most important thing is skills. And I would not have embarked on this challenge if I did not have the support of my entire team, the hospital management and all the employees and managers who know their job very well,” explained the responsible.

Among the challenges to be met, Gautier Vallat mentions maintaining the services currently offered by the H-JU. “It’s a daily challenge for a decentralized, local hospital like ours,” he underlined. Cost pressures and labor shortages are also among the new director’s concerns. /alr
