Banking, bill payment, insurance, , education, E-commerce delivery… In just a few decades, Africa has experienced a digital upheaval which is considerably changing daily life. Main tool of innovation: the mobile phone and in particular the smartphone which has truly bridged a technological gap on the continent.

By 2030, the adoption rate of smartphones is expected to explode, according to the latest GSMA report. Going from 51% in 2022 to 87% at the end of the decade. The continent has seen digital transformations as a way to meet its needs. This is particularly the case for mobile payment (M-pesa), born in Kenya in 2007. Even today, almost half of the 1.6 billion registered mobile money accounts come from Sub-Saharan Africa. It must be said that innovation provides many services in countries where financial inclusion is still low and the share of the informal economy is high. What are the next transformations to expect from the continent? What are consumers’ expectations?
