Michel-Édouard Leclerc finally denounces the real culprits of the explosion of prices at the supermarket – Tuxboard

Determined to reveal everything about the reason for the rise in prices in supermarkets, Michel-Édouard Leclerc revealed his painful truth!

Since the start of the crisis, French households have been suffering. has indeed caused the prices of everyday life to soar. Something that could have been avoided according to Michel-Édouard Leclerc.

Inflation still present in 2024

It’s a fact, life becomes more and more expensive as the years go by. Today, shopping in a supermarket causes a real hole in the budget of some households.

With inflation, the price of food has indeed increased significantly. Just like that of energy bills, gasoline or rent.

Faced with this lasting crisis, major retail brands have decided to play the game. Many have imposed anti-inflation baskets to allow everyone to regain purchasing power.

This is particularly the case of Leclerc, whose president, Michel-Édouard Leclerc, also announced price drops at the beginning of April 2024. But nothing is won yet. And he nevertheless wanted to recall the difficulties encountered every day by farmers.

Aware of the crisis playing out in the agricultural world, the boss of the Leclerc centers wanted to be reassuring on this subject. This money intends, so to speak, to spare both parties by thinking of the producers, but also of the consumers.

We must increase the income of farmers at the production level. Without having a lasting impact on the consumer”he liked at the microphone of BFMTV Politique.

If the boss of the Leclerc brand willingly sides with French producers, he is however less tender with industrialists.

Michel-Édouard Leclerc rises against industrialists

Interviewed by RMC-BFMTV this Monday, April 29, Michel-Édouard Leclerc shared his scathing thoughts about his economic partners.

For him, industrialists knowingly took advantage of the crisis caused by Covid-19 and the war in to increase prices. “The agri-food industry has benefited from this inflation”criticized the boss of the rival firm Lidl.

According to him, the price increases suffered in particular by the food sector are due to a lack of transparency on the part of manufacturers. “If they had told us the truth, there would not have been this inflation”said the president of Leclerc’s strategic committee.

Michel-Edouard Leclerc did not stop there, however. The latter continued his explanations, even if it meant getting angry with his interlocutors.

“All the major agri-food companies achieved margins of up to 15 or 20% during the crisis. And while consumers had to pay increases in pasta. Or item increases of 30 to 40%. If the manufacturers had told us the truthwe would have negotiated the industrial margin more harshly”said the latter.

The president of the Leclerc centers explains having “accepted the price increases” because he “thought not to touch the agricultural margin”. But in reality, he says he was also fooled.

Inflation has mainly fueled the margins of the agro-industry. Not the farmers”, regretted the guest of RMC-BFMTV. To support his remarks, Leclerc’s boss claimed to rely on the latest BCE report. That’s what it says!
