A profession that has been in vogue for several years, it is increasingly sought after by companies, except that the number of potential candidates is not as significant as we thought.
You probably have someone around you who had a hard time becoming… a computer developer. In full swing, this profession has the merit of ensuring permanent employment for a nice basic salary. Each year, this digital profession records growth of 20%.
From April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, no less than 166,300 job offers looking for IT developers were published on the various recruitment platforms, if we are to believe the Randstad and Golden Bees institutes. Among these offers, 127,119 offers offered a permanent contract, while 10,000 concerned work-study contracts and 6,975 concerned internships.

Not only does the profession guarantee a permanent position in a company, but it also benefits from more than adequate remuneration. In the first years, it is possible to start your career with a minimum salary of 3,125 euros gross per month.
The invisible market share
However, the democratization of this profession and the evolution of the job market have allowed many IT developers to try the adventure of self-entrepreneurship. Firstly, permanent contract opportunities (around 50,000) are concentrated in large metropolises such as the Paris basin, the Lyon region and the Toulouse region.
Furthermore, a significant portion of offers, around 16%, are not necessarily published on sites but are generally more confidential. This percentage concerns opportunities that come through word of mouth, spontaneous applications and co-optations.

This is called invisible market weight. A market that is growing more and more every year. In 2020, the invisible job market represented 41% of professional opportunities. Today, this percentage has increased to 53%.
Thus, job offers for IT developers are still legion but the candidates are less jostling at the gate, finding their account more independently or more directly without going through the ad sites.
