A Lyon-Paris TGV blocked for 6 hours on the tracks due to a breakdown

TRANSPORT – The journey will have lasted seven hours instead of two. At least a hundred passengers on a Lyon-Paris TGV were stuck on the tracks for several hours due to a breakdown this Sunday, April 28, report The Parisian and BFMTV.

TGV Inoui number 6692 left as planned at 7:34 a.m. from Lyon-Part-Dieu station and was due to arrive in the capital two hours later. But barely after leaving Lyon, the trains remained stopped at Neuville-sur-Saône, in the Rhône.

Contacted by the two media, the SNCF spoke of an engine failure. The train passengers had to be patient, since the convoy did not leave until around 1:30 p.m., six hours after being stopped. He finally arrived safely in the middle of the afternoon, after a journey that took much longer than expected.

“There was a big impact and the train stopped”

The SNCF apologized for this inconvenience, and indicated that passengers’ tickets would be refunded 100%.

This Sunday was definitely a bad day for the railway company. A TER transporting around 200 people found itself blocked in the evening, once again near Lyon, following a “ slope subsidence » due to bad weather. There are no casualties.

A journalist from France 3, Léo Chapuis, was present on this train and posted photos and video on X, as you can see below. “I am on a Firminy-Lyon train which has just derailed due to a landslide on the tracks near Grigny. There was a big impact and the train stopped”he explained.

The train remained standing ” after the incident but is “ gone off the rails » and will therefore have to be reinstalled and damage to the track is also “ probable », according to a spokesperson. Rail traffic, interrupted between Givors and Lyon-Perrache following the incident, is therefore not expected to resume on this route on Monday.
