The annual meetings of the Islamic Development for the year 2024 opened with a bang on Saturday April 27, 2024, under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Riyadh. The institution immediately announced the granting of 70.46 million euros in financing to Côte d’Ivoire for a project to develop the cassava value chain.

Another African country awarded, Benin, which obtained 60.57 million euros for the cassava value chain with the aim of improving food security in this country.

This is a perfect illustration of the IDB’s interest in the development of value chains in the agri-food sector.

In total, the Riyadh-based Development Bank approved $418 million to finance new development projects in member countries, according to the deliberations of the 35th session of the board of directors chaired by Mohammed Sulaiman Al -Jasser, which thus marks a clear inclination for social and economic development and sustainability.

These annual meetings coincide with the IDB’s Golden Jubilee, as the institution celebrates 50 years of promoting economic and social development in 57 member countries, under the slogan “Proud of our past, shaping our : authenticity, solidarity and Prosperity,” reflecting the bank’s heritage and future goals.

Finance ministers, representatives of financial institutions, Islamic finance experts, the private sector and non-governmental organizations participate in the meetings.

Highlights of the annual meetings include the Governors’ Roundtable, the 18th IDB Global Islamic Finance Forum, the IDB Group Private Sector Forum 2024, the Philanthropy Forum and the Future Visioning Symposium.
