TER and RER traffic will be reduced north of Paris during the All Saints’ Day holidays due to roadworks

RER and TER traffic will be significantly reduced on All Saints’ Day and in November north of Paris due to work being carried out on a railway bridge, the Ile-de-France prefecture and SNCF announced at a press conference on Tuesday 24 September. Traffic will be significantly disrupted from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 October, during the All Saints’ Day holiday, then on the weekends of 1^er from November 3 to November 23 to 24.

“It’s about improving the flow of daily users, modernizing the RER B line, connecting it to the Grand Paris Express network, and preparing for the arrival of the Charles de Gaulle Express [en 2027] »said Marc Guillaume, prefect of the Ile-de-France region.

The service will be reduced to one train out of two all day long on the northern axis of the RER B and D. On line H, a little more than one train out of two (i.e. eleven trains per hour) will run during rush hour. One TER per hour will run between Paris and Beauvais, while traffic between Paris and Laon will be limited to six TER per day. Traffic on line K will be suspended.

Traffic on lines 4, 5 and 14 increased

During the All Saints’ Day works, the replacement of a railway bridge dating from 1894 will begin, “integrated into the busiest track network in Europe”according to the prefect. They will consist of putting in place the temporary supports for the new structure, which will be installed in February 2025.

“The new bridge will have a span of 143 metres, a record in Europe, and a height of 16.5 metres”detailed Jean-Pierre Farandou, CEO of SNCF. An infrastructure that cost around 30 million euros, according to Séverine Lepère, deputy general manager of SNCF Ile-de-France.

Due to the works, significant flows of users will be spread across the various transport lines in the Paris-Nord – Châtelet sector. The offer of lines 4, 5 and 14 will be reinforced in order to facilitate the transfer of passengers to the metro.
