Decathlon hits very hard with an electric bike at less than 1000 euros: here is the Rockrider E-Actv 100

On the occasion of a press event organized in Paris, Frandroid was able to discover in preview the latest entry-level electric bike of Decathlon, the Rockrider E-Actv 100. Its great strength? Its price of 999 euros, associated with a frankly decent level of equipment.
Here is the Rockrider E-Actv 100, the latest entry-level electric bike from Decathlon, that Frandroid was able to discover during a press event organized in Paris. This is the brand new “FIRST CYCLE FIRST PRICE OF DECATHLON», Indicates a brand representative. “”With, as big will, to regain the DNA of the group: accessibility».
A price under 1000 euros
It must be said that at 999 euros-or even 599 euros with the Ile-de-France bike premium-, this E-ACTV 100 is one of the most affordable VAEs on the market. With, as a complementary force, the name, the support and the strike force of Decathlon, which enjoys a after -sales service available everywhere in France. A guarantee of insurance and security for any user, no doubt.

I rolled with the new Decathlon electric bike at less than 1000 euros: good prints for an unbeatable price
What is the target of Rockrider E-Actv 100? “”Those who want to do Vélotaf during the week, but also peri-urban outings on weekends“, Continues our interlocutor.

Decathlon naturally made “strong” and assumed choices to draw the price down. “”For example, the saddle is the same as the one we sell at Decathlon. But for this model, the supplier was asked to remove the markings and reduce the finish level. Suddenly, it lowers the costs. It is anecdotal certainly, but it illustrates the work that we do to contain the price as much as possible. And on a large -scale production, it may feel».
Also, the place of assembly directly impacts the final price: it is indeed in its Italian and Romanian factories that this happens, either sites where costs are less. Decathlon directly confirmed to us that an assembly made in its French factory in Lille, for example, cost the company more. The setting is made in China.
Rotation sensor
Another small concession this time linked to the equipment: the absence of standard luggage racks. On the other hand, the French group pushes you to buy one at a price of 49 euros (40 kg of load support), because in exchange … you also receive a free crutch – the crutch is therefore not provided as standard either. Fortunately, the front and rear mudguards, as well as the lighting, equip the default bike.

What about the engine and the battery? Because it is above all the nerve of war for an electric bike. The engine block is at the rear hub and is associated with a rotation sensor, and not a torque sensor which brings a more natural, lively and dynamic behavior to the bicycle. However, the rotation sensor is rather reactive according to our first tests.
From a torque of 45 nm, the engine is the same one that equips the Riverside 100e, we are blowing us. It therefore comes from Asia, but was tested on thousands of electric models signed Decathlon. For its part, the battery claims a capacity of 356 Wh, for a range of 70 km in Eco mode, and 35-40 km in Boost mode-the normal mode is inserted between the two.
Suspended fork and removable battery
Good news: the battery is removable. Practical to recharge it at home if you do not have a storage place in your building. On the other hand, the battery cover does not dissociate from it. Therefore, in the event of a removed battery, the entire interior of the frame and electronics are potentially vulnerable. In reality, you are forced to remove the battery to recharge it, because no load port is present on the bicycle.

To bring an interesting dose of comfort to the user, Decathlon added a suspended fork of a 60 mm travel, as well as tires with a width of 48 mm. In practice, it is very interesting – to read in our grip. Add to that a 6 -speed microshift transmission – entry -level, therefore – and mechanical disc brakes signed Tektro – reassuring on paper, therefore.
Decathlon has established a partnership with SP Connect to integrate a SP Connect support as standard: with the compatible shell, you can install your phone in a jiffy. Very practical. Connectivity is also in order with the Decathlon Ride mobile application, in order to consult its remaining autonomy or the condition of its battery, for example.
A availability in March
For the remaining radius of action, you can also refer to the few LEDs on the screen, with a very relative estimate. This small on -board computer, very simple in its use, is also used to change mode, turn on the lights, turn off or light your bike.
With a weight of 23 kg, the Decathlon Rockrider E-Actv 100 will be officially launched in mid-March in size S/M and L/XL, in high and low frame. “”We launched the first rounds of production. All the industrialisaton went well“He tells us. There is therefore no reason why there is delay in the commercial calendar. Price recall: 999 euros.
