Microsoft put everything on AI

Microsoft recently put a facelift to his famous office automation suite by integrating artificial intelligence (AI). This change, which could well upset our way of using digital tools on a daily basis, is important to understand the impact of AI on employment.

A new look for Microsoft 365

So what really changes? Well, Microsoft has decided to rename its suite “Microsoft 365 Office” in « Microsoft 365 Copilot ». But it’s not just a name question: the logo was also reviewed. Exit the old blue hexagon, make way for a brand new logo with a “M365” label at the bottom right. This rebranding aims to show that Microsoft puts big on AI in its services.

The announcement had already been made last December, but it must be admitted that it did not do Tilt at everyone. The name “Office” had already experienced some facelifts in the past, but this time it is the emphasis on AI that divides: some wonder if we do not put a little too side the good old tools of productivity.

IA everywhere: What does it change for you?

The heart of the subject is Copilotwhich now becomes an integral part of the Basic Package of Microsoft 365. This initiative is part of a broader strategy where Microsoft apps are first seen as tools doped at AI. This has also led to the first price increase in subscriptions for thirteen years – hello justification by added value!

The idea behind it? That users see these consequences as platforms focused on AI above all, requiring new skills in prompt engineering.

It remains to be seen if those who prefer their usual features will follow …

Change in all corners

With this rebranding, Microsoft does not stop there and extends Copilot to other products and services. From January 2024, the mobile browser became « Microsoft Edge: AI Browser »just to highlight this dimension IA even further. And it’s not over! PCs under the label Copilot+ have been launched to provide an even more enriched user experience thanks to AI.

And to go even further, Microsoft joins forces with companies specialized in AI to expand its technological ecosystem. A touch dedicated to Copilot even appears on certain keyboards and laptops – proof that the interactions between the user and the computer take a new turn.

Beyond internal borders

During CES 2025, Microsoft announced that Copilot would be integrated into third -party services. The LG and Samsung giants have already taken the plunge by adding this technology to their smart televisions – opening the door with lots of new possibilities.

This project clearly shows that Microsoft wants to extend Copilot beyond its traditional computer products. But some remain skeptical about the possible success of this ambitious strategy; We all remember the flop with Cortana and the professions vulnerable to automation.

While Microsoft redefines its digital universe around artificial intelligence with Microsoft 365 Copilotmany wonder if this strategy will really pay or if it will encounter the same obstacles as certain past innovations. This adventure may well change our way of interacting with our daily digital tools, prompting everyone to think about the future pro and personal implications of these technological advances.
