Ryanair continues to sell tickets for summer holidays from an airport … which will be closed for work
At the beginning of February, the most provident French people surely already planned their summer vacation. This is the case of Cédric, a resident of the Jura. He planned a stay for Marrakech (Morocco) from June 11 to 20 but his plane ticket could be canceled. As France 3 Bourgogne-Franche-Comté reports, his Ryanair plane will probably never take off from Dole Jura airport, located in the town of Tavaux.
“These travelers will not be able to leave”
Indeed, the airport will be closed for work from May 26 to July 11. Although these dates have been clearly displayed on the airport site for a few months and all the companies have been informed, Ryanair continues this stay to offer tickets during this period.
“These travelers will not be able to leave, the track will be destroyed,” says Jean-Jacques Berto, director of the airport. We did our job, we warned everyone. Ryanair is on the spot. Passengers must get closer to the company. She has an obligation to offer them something since they sold the tickets. ”
A contested airport
However, on the passenger side, the vague persists. “I called Ryanair when I learned the airport closure,” says Cédric. I was told that the closings dates were not official, that the activity was maintained and that I will be reimbursed if it did not take off. ” But in the meantime, its accommodation and activities are already reserved. He may not be refunded him in the event of cancellation at the last minute. “We looked at to start from another airport, it’s far too expensive. We have no solution. We are not offered anything. “, He deplores.
This misunderstanding is part of an already complicated context for Dole Jura airport, whose legitimacy is called into question by several environmental defense associations. The latter plan to submit a summary proceedings just before the start of the tracking work on the track. “We hope that this summary will succeed. Because behind the track work, the project is to double the number of large carriers at this airport. This is what the Jura department wants with 10 % travelers per year in addition for ten years, ”says Pascal Blain, president of Serre Vivante and regional administrator of France Nature Environnement. According to him, a project of such magnitude would require an environmental impact study.
