      Argentina

      penalties

A historic title. Twelve years after the silver medal in London, the Blues of blind football won the Paralympic title at home. And the tireless Frédéric Villeroux was still at the helm to take France to the roof of the world on Saturday, September 7.

A France-Argentina final was bound to be a tasty… or even sulphurous match. Since the final lost by France in Qatar against the Albiceleste, the controversies have continued, with racist insults from the Argentinians.

Result: the rivalry between the two nations has spilled over from football. A brawl in rugby 7s, whistles against the Argentinian boat during the opening ceremony of the Olympics… Argentina has not been very welcome in Paris. And this blind football final is an opportunity like any other to settle the scores, at least on the sporting level.
