The magic of the of books touches the two authors of Martinique publishing

Several writers, academics, authors, publishers made the trip to this unmissable event as a preview of the literary rentrée, on Sunday August 25, 2024 in Chanceaux-Près-Loches in Touraine (Centre-Val de Loire Region) on the occasion of “La Forêt des Livres”. Suzanne Dracius and Jean-François Carenco came to present their latest works published in the collection “Qui ne sais rien, de rien ne doute” (Ed. Desnel).

This rural meeting, under the century-old trees of the park of the Château du Clos Lucé (where Leonardo da Vinci lived) was a popular success with more than a hundred authors. Chanceaux-Près-Loches in Touraine vibrated under a mild sky to the rhythm of literature, exchanges, meetings and dedications.

The academics, Pascal Ory, with “This dear old country” published by Gallimard and Pierre Assouline of the Académie Goncourt with his latest opus, “How to write” at Albin Michel, were there.

Press personalities such as Dominique Verdeilhan (France Télévisions), Guy Lagache (M6), Éric Naulleau (Paris-Première), Christine Kelly (C News) and many others made the trip.

Other well-known figures such as Jacques Attali, writer, thinker, Marine Jacquemin and Dorothée Olliéric, Céline Laurens with “The house of God” at Albin Michel marked this event with their presence.

Young authors, like Tiphaine Auzière, premier roman “Seats“, Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut, “A sign from you” evoking the memory of her husband Jean-Pierre Pernaut, Henri Leconte who enchanted the courts, with “New Balls“, Jean-Pierre Mader, star of the 80s, “we don’t know my song” contributed to the book festival. Note several colloquiums such as the one hosted by Florence Belkacem with several guests.

The publisher Jean-Benoît Desnel has led two of his recently published authors: Jean Francois Carenco and Suzanne Dracius.

Jean-François Carenco, former Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories and former Prefect of Guadeloupe and Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, presented to visitors “Stand up for the . This book is a 45-page essay, through which the author castigates radicalism, communitarianism, violence and censorship. This servant of the State invites everyone to commit to freedom, equality, fraternity, culture and humanity in order to build “a colorblind republic of races, religions, wealth and beliefs.”


It warms the heart to meet compatriots interested in books.

Another writer who is part of the editions, Suzanne Dracius with “Hypallages”. This book, published in the collection “Qui ne sais rien, de rien ne doute” makes crossed praises, at the same time to sisterhood, to history and to the memory of slavery. She pays homage to Olympe de Gouges, Lumina Sophie, Paulette Nardal, Suzanne Roussi Césaire. “May our figures of women no longer be disfigured”.

This preview of the literary rentrée in Touraine allowed the following prizes to be awarded:

  • Back to school : Emma Becker “the pretty evil” (Albin, Michel)
  • First Novel Award: Ruben Barrouk “All the noise of Gueliz” (Albin Michel)
  • Price of the work: Nicole Lambert “the triplets” (children’s words)
  • Jury Prize: Raphael Zaoui “the last one on the track” (Harper Collins)
