Organized by the Federation of Corsican Groups in Marseille and Bouches-du-Rhône, the Corsican Book Fair is once again a privileged moment to celebrate the literary and cultural heritage of the island. For two days, the house of Corsica, located rue Sylvabelle, will become a meeting space between authors, publishers and visitors. The event, free and open to everyone, promises a rich and varied program.
Among the highlights, six conferences will tackle themes ranging from history to testimony, including poetry. René Frégni will open discussions with his intervention entitled “Midnight in the city of dreams, from revolt to writing”. Jean-Pierre Poli will return to the heritage of Petru Rocca, while Joseph Peraldi will give his gaze on Corsican nationalism in “Confessions of a Corsican patriot”. Visitors will also have the opportunity to listen to Angel Rovere to decipher the figure of Pasquale Paoli or even Jean-Louis Leccia evoke an unknown Ajaccian gunsmith of the Belle Epoque.
An eclectic cultural meeting
In parallel with conferences, around twenty island publishing houses, including Albiana, DCL and Piazzola, will present their publications. Several authors, including René Frégni, Petru Leca or Ange Rovere, will be present to sign their works.
Two exhibitions will enrich the event, with the paintings of Pat O’bine and the photographs of Hubert Barre. A stand of local products, demonstrations of Corsican polyphony led by Antonu Marielli and the presence of local associations will complement this dense and diverse program.
On Saturday evening, a festive evening will punctuate the first day with a cocktail dinner followed by songs and poems performed by Antoine Marielli and Étienne Perfetti. Finally, the show will end on Sunday afternoon with a large raffle, where tickets will be put into play for a round trip to Corsica.
