Réquista. Serge Carles at the media library to present his book

The Réquistanais media library, with the assistance of the tourist office, will receive Serge Carles on Wednesday February 5 at 2:30 p.m.

Serge Carles was born in Vailhourles, in the west of the department, in 1950. A teacher and then a master trainer in Occitan language and culture, he is the author of several works. He will present his book “Istòria d’un sauvatjòt – I am this child”. He will read extracts in both languages, then he will sign his book.

It is a true story told with modesty and restraint by the person himself. A story in two languages: the “language of all”, which we called “patois”, and the French learned at school.

It is therefore fortunate that the book is published in a single work but in two languages, and with two different titles: “Istòria d’un sauvatjòt”, “I am this child”

Two readings are therefore possible: one for those who understand Occitan and appreciate a wonderfully mastered language; another for those who go directly to French or who do not hesitate to go back and forth.

Today, Serge Carles’ book questions: “Where do we come from? Who are we really? Could history have been different if…? And now…”
