When a character from a fairy tale arrives in the real world, this often gives rise to chaotic situations… This is indeed the case in the film Once upon a time by Kevin Lima, but also in The Last Tale, Golden Applewhere worlds mix for a most explosive result.
Like Gisèle, a delicate princess who loves birds, who finds herself propelled to New York overnight, Warren is torn from Paris and finds himself plunged into a world that is completely unknown to him. No more metro, electric scooters and unwanted horn blasts, before his eyes are now trolls, witches and other Cheshire cats which he would never have imagined existed.
He may have the dreamy heart and the soul of an artist, but all this is beyond him and the adaptation is not going to be easy. Without taking into account the fact that he must team up with – or rather obey – a temperamental fairywhich looks nothing like the gentle winged creatures that were sold to him in the tales. No, Ariane is a real tornado, that nothing and no one can stop. She's decided to make him a hero and there's nothing he can really do to stop her…
Shrek
While in ShrekDreamWorks artists had fun combine different folk tales and legends, mixing stories like Blanche-Neige, Pinocchio, Puss in Boots or even The Three Little Pigs in the same magical and eccentric world, Alexiane Thill plays here with the same methods. The universe in which is anchored The Last Tale, Golden Apple does not respond to any real logic, except that it brings together many characters from popular culture and this, with a bit of humor to say the least.
Just like in the saga of the green ogre, the adventures of Ariane and Warren are punctuated by a note of scathing comedywhich has no trouble putting smiles on our faces throughout the pages. For good reason, the mercenary fairy is rough, outspoken and does not keep her tongue in her pocket. When she has something to say, she says it, and in a manner, please! As for Warren, he is not the last to joke and takes great pleasure in making his jailer completely stupid!
