It was 11:18 p.m.Sunday January 19, 2025, when the firefighters were called to a road accident in Bazoges-en-Paillers, at a place called Croix Cholet, in Vendée.
A light vehicle hit a power pole.
Extricated by a man who fled
The circumstances of the accident are unclear, but the Vendée departmental fire and rescue operational center (Codis) provides some details:
According to witnesses, the driver was freed from the accident vehicle by a man, who fled before help arrived.

The victim in serious condition
The victim, a man around 35 years old, was categorized as seriously injured by the Smur team and transported to the Nantes University Hospital.
Eight firefighters rescue centers from Beaurepaire, La Bruffière, Les Herbiers and Montaigu were present on site.
90 residents deprived of electricity
Note that “the damage caused to the electric pole led to a power outage affecting 90 homes for a duration of approximately two hours »still according to Codis 85.
