Saint-Girons. Reading comes to Couserans for a few nights

The 9th Reading Nights, organized for the fourth consecutive year by the National Book Center, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Culture, are being held from January 23 to 26. This new edition is placed under the theme of heritage of all kinds (intimate, collective, digital or material) and once again mobilizes the network of media libraries-libraries of Couserans. A theme that inspires a rich and varied program, with activities for all ages and tastes.

Theatrical readings, concerts, escape games, participatory workshops and shows will punctuate these few days in a spirit of conviviality and sharing. Children and adults will be spoiled for choice among activities combining literary discoveries, fun thrills and cultural encounters.

In Saint-Girons, the festivities culminate with highlights on January 24: bilingual French-Occitan readings from 5 p.m., followed by a Spanish inn and a cake competition before a striking show at 8:30 p.m. offered by the company Cyranoids. Between poetry and commitment, this show features Victor Hugo, Prévert, Brel and Grand Corps Malade, exploring the values of the Republic and living together.

The programming of the 9th Reading Nights also extends to each Couserans media library. In Massat, the same day, visitors will be able to attend readings, a musical blind test and a performance of Les Fourberies de Scapin. On Saturday, reading enthusiasts will have the choice between several places: La Bastide-de-Sérou, Castillon, Fabas, Lorp-Sentaraille and Seix. The towns offer concerts, puppet theater, stories and poetry, animated readings and even an interactive escape game.

This national event aims to bring together book stakeholders and arouse the desire and pleasure of reading among the general public, while local media libraries act as hubs for discovery and exchange. This is good, because reading more is among the good resolutions voted for by the French at the start of the year.

Reservations for the various events are strongly recommended at each media library.
