Erica on TF1: which successful books is the series adapted from?

In prime time on TF1, as well as on the TF1+ streaming service, a new French detective series is arriving: Erica. This title is also the name of the heroine, a thriller novelist played by Julie de Bona; accompanied by Grégory Fitoussi, who plays the police captain, Patrick. Erica is actually an adaptation of the books by Swedish writer Camilla Läckberg.

Camilla Läckberg is a big name in detective literature. During the 2010s, it is estimated that his books were sold in 40 languages, in 60 countries. Then, it reached 26 million copies sold, in total, in 2020. One of its flagship sagas, in particular, sold 5 million copies in France alone: ​​“ Erica Falck and Patrik Hedström “. This is currently composed of 11 volumes.

It is from this literary saga that the French series is drawn Erica. Where the action took place in Sweden, the geography is moved to France, as well as certain names are Frenchized (Patrik/Patrick). The investigation scenarios are slightly modified, but resume the initial plot. The Swedish novelist was also associated with the project, for greater fidelity to the work and well-chosen twists and turns.

The French series has chosen, in 6 episodes, to adapt the first three volumes of the saga, dedicating 2 episodes to each investigation. The titles of the episodes are therefore the same as the French-speaking titles of the novels:

In the first episode, as in the first novel, Erica is back in her small hometown, when a young woman is found dead there, her veins cut. It's none other than her best friend. Except it's not really suicide. Erica then decides to investigate, and this is how she meets Patrick.
