David Hubert talks about his philosophy: “I'm a mix between Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti” – Tout le

David Hubert spoke in depth about the he wanted to play with Anderlecht. He particularly mentions the influence of several coaches.

Dan's son interview in Latest News, David Hubert admits to being inspired by Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti. “I read books by them, but rather diagonally, because there is sometimes a lot of blabla. But there are always interesting ideas that we can retain.”

It is this difference in approach that inspires him. “Klopp talks about intensity as his identity. We find it in all his forms of training. Competitiveness and counter-pressing are essential for him. Ancelotti, on the other hand, is more of a man of feeling, which is also very important. As for Guardiola, he advocates structure and automation. His approach is almost that of PlayStation football.

A balance to find

These different elements combine to form the basis of Hubert's philosophy. “My vision is a summary of these three elements: the intensity of Klopp, the human approach of Ancelotti and the structure of Guardiola. You could say that I'm a mix of the three,” he says with a wink. “There you are, you have your title.”

But Hubert also draws a lot of inspiration from his own experience as a player. “For me it is essential to have the ball, because it allows you to control it. But I have also learned to keep control without the ball. It's about being compact and staying in the block. If the opponent has the ball in a certain place, that’s sometimes good too.”

HAS Anderlechthe wants to find a balance between possession football and compact positioning: “Football is not just about one style. It's about knowing what suits your players and your situation best. It's what I want to combine”.
