JESSE EISENBERG REFLECTS ON HIS LEX LUTHOR

With a new Lex Luthor on the way, Jesse Eisenberg He confesses that his portrayal of the villain came close to ruining his career.

James Gunn and Peter Safran have already started the new DCU, with the premiere of the Creature Commandos and the reveal of the first trailer for Superman, which will hit theaters next year, more than 10 years after the release of Man of Steel, the character's last film.

Although that first installment of the franchise that Zack Snyder was building was very well received, the debut of Batman v Superman It was the first wobble in a saga that never fully established itself, and that was affected by conflicts behind the camera and constant changes in the studio.

One of the main reasons why that film was criticized was its villain, and Eisenberg's eccentric and unexpected interpretation of Lex Luthor, very different from what had been seen of the character to date. Something that did not convince the fans, and ended up affecting the actor.

Speaking on Armchair Expert with Shepherd, Jesse Eisenberg explained how his involvement in the film affected his future in the industry:

“I was in this Batman movie and it was very poorly received, and I was very poorly received (I've never said this before and it's a little embarrassing to admit it), but I really think it actually hurt my career in a real way because I was poorly received in something so public.

I had already been in poorly received things that just don't see the light of day. For the most part, no one knows, but this was very public and I don't read movie ads or reviews or press or anything like that, so I didn't realize how poorly received it was.

And [un actor está] in a huge, gigantic movie and it's not considered good, the people who choose who to put in their movie next just won't select them.”
